basic:
Before next module, coaching 2 times
with permission to interview the client on what was helpful
leave an insight as comment to this post
watch Chris Iveson coaching Arpi
additional possibility:
record one coaching of yours with permission of the client
make a little excercise of Applied Micoranalysis (based on the work of Peter de Jong & Haesun Moon)
a) Transcribe the first 5 minutes of the recording.
b) Examine clients’ utterances* and color green the words which deliver “positive content”=things, client wants. Take yellow for “negative content”=anything client does not want (anymore).
c) Underline from clients’ offerings, what you build on with your next utterance
d) “Late genius”: cursive, what you think was so promising from clients’ offering (if anything), that you would build on it another time.
What did you learn? How is this a reinforcement/inspiration for your following coachings?
If you came so far and feel like, I'm ready to talk this experience through with you 1:1 if you think it might be helpful :)
*utterance: in the flow of a conversation utterance is one turn. It can be a question, a remark, a “hm”…
Today my client shared that what helped him most was my dedication and positive attitude to find a solution together to his problem (“I feel you are on my side” was his word) as well as my analytical skills to structure information I heard and played back.
A very nice metaphor of your client! 'I feel you are on my side'. Interesting, what did you exactly do that your client got this feeling.... Keep on doing the good work, dear Eric!
